Jessica McConnell Named Finalist for Up & Coming Lawyer Award

Attorney is one of 24 honored by The Daily Journal of Commerce

PORTLAND, Ore. — November 2011 — Portland commercial law firm Greene & Markley, P.C. is pleased to announce that Jessica (Shoup) McConnell, an associate with the firm, has been recognized as an Up & Coming Lawyer Award finalist by The Daily Journal of Commerce.

McConnell was one of 24 finalists honored November 17 at a dinner reception held at The Nines in downtown Portland. She also was featured in the November 2011 issue of DJC Magazine.

The Up & Coming Lawyers Awards is an annual program honoring outstanding Oregon lawyers admitted to the bar during the past ten years. Recipients have demonstrated leadership and above-average achievements in legal assignments, active involvement in professional organizations, and commitment to the community through extracurricular activities or pro bono work.

Jessica McConnell concentrates her practice in federal, state and local tax controversies, including tax audits, offers in compromise and tax collection matters. In addition, she handles a variety of bankruptcy cases, many of which involve tax dischargeability issues. Since joining Greene & Markley in 2004, she has helped dozens of businesses and individuals efficiently resolve major tax and financial problems.

McConnell holds leadership roles in the Oregon State Bar, where she plans and presents educational seminars, serves on legislative workgroups, and authors articles about developments in the law. She volunteers at the Oregon State Bar's bankruptcy clinic, and provides free legal assistance through other pro bono cases.
